A PERSONAL TIMELINE

A path so far.

From backend engineering, through a year alongside technical teams, and back to building software.

The year I spent on the other side of the table.

I wrote backend code in Hangzhou from 2021 to 2023, then spent over a year as HR Business Partner for technical teams. I restructured recruitment, cutting interview cycles by about a third, and built an AWS/SQL salary-review tool beyond my assigned work. That experience taught me to keep asking until the real business rule is clear.

Returning to engineering was deliberate: French school, English school in Ireland, AWS Certified Developer – Associate, then a three-year BSc at HEIA-FR taught in French. I now live in Fribourg.

Two tools I built in order to learn French
  • Plume Française ↗ — a native macOS input method for French: accents, typographic spacing, and the agreement of past participles, implemented as rules. Shipped as a signed installer.
  • wordcloud ↗ — 9,067 French words as a navigable graph, rebuilt from pinned DBnary and Wiktionnaire snapshots. Sourced relations are kept separate from the ones I wrote myself.
